The Buddha ate Meat

There seems to be a big debate on eating meat and being Buddhist. Yes, it’s true a lot of Buddhists eat meat. It is also true that a lot of Buddhist adhere to a strict vegetarian or vegan diet. What is the big deal? Why is there so much tension? Why was I cussed out for stating that it isn’t important what people eat? Does it really matter?

(Note: It certainly matters to the animals!)
